What is Ozempic?

Ozempic, as described by its manufacturer Novo Nordisk, is an injectable prescription medicine for adults with type 2 diabetes. Its sister drug, Wegovy, is for weight loss. The generic form of both injectable drugs is semaglutide, which is also the active ingredient in Rybelsus tablets, prescribed, like Ozempic, to help control insulin levels in patients with type 2 diabetes. Saxenda (liraglutide) is prescribed for weight loss. Mounjaro is an injectable prescription for type 2 diabetes.
